Description:
At 130 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Alum Creek to near Van to near Hanover.
Movement was northeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Charleston, Madison, Pineville, Jefferson, South Charleston, Dunbar,
Montgomery, Mullens, Chesapeake, Marmet, Oceana, Belle, Cedar Grove,
East Bank, Glasgow, Smithers, Pratt, Van, Pinch, and Burnwell.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 79 between mile markers 1 and 13.
Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 96 and 110.
Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 51 and 57.
West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 53 and 56, and between
mile markers 58 and 95.
Route 119 between mile markers 47 and 80.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
