Eastern Washington County in southwestern Virginia...
* Until 445 PM EDT.
* At 340 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Cleveland Va,
or near Lebanon, moving southeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include...
Abingdon, Lebanon, Cleveland Va, Glade Spring, Honaker, Lindell,
Emory-Meadowview, Rosedale, and Konnarock.
This includes Interstate 81 in Virginia between mile markers 21 and
34.
Instruction:
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning
is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
