* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of west central Virginia, including the following independent city, City of Roanoke. * WHEN...Until 845 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 517 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that heavy rain has exited the City of Roanoke. Minor flooding is occurring as runoff from between 0.5 and locally 1.25 inches of rain that fell between 4 PM and 5 PM continues to collect in local creeks and drainages. The high rainfall rates overwhelmed storm drains in a few spots, resulting in localized street flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Roanoke... Salem... Vinton... Turn around when encountering flooded roads. Vehicles may stall in the flood waters, causing motorists to be stranded.
