West Central Garfield County in southern Utah...Specifically for Castro Canyon and Wash * Until 400 PM MDT. * At 1249 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Castro Canyon. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of normally dry washes. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Castro Canyon and points downstream.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to normally dry washes which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid normally dry washes in this area.
