Description:
At 448 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 12 miles west of Green River to 8 miles north
of Canyonlands National Park. Movement was northeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Green River and Arches National Park.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Utah near mile marker 164, and between mile markers
168 and 186.
U.S. Highway 191 in Utah between mile markers 133 and 157.
Utah 313 between mile markers 7 and 22.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
