Description:
At 254 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Pigeon Forge, or 8 miles southwest of Sevierville, moving east at 25
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Sevierville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Smoky Mountains-Newfound Gap,
Smoky Mountains-Balsam Mountain, Pittman Center, Wears Valley, Cosby,
Roundtop Mountain State Park, and Great Smoky Mountains National
Park.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for
east Tennessee.
