Description:
At 735 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Dreher Island
State Park, or 9 miles northwest of Highway 6 at Lake Murray Dam,
moving southwest at 15 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and powerlines.
Locations impacted include...
Irmo, Prosperity, Ballentine, Dreher Island State Park, Chapin,
Little Mountain, Peak, Lighthouse Marina, Cedar Grove Fire Station,
South Shore Marina, Oswald Park, Lake Murray Marina, Shull Island,
Bundrick Island, Fairview Fire Station, Putnam's Landing, Siesta Cove
Marina, White Rock, Mid-Carolina High School, and Rocky Point
Recreation Area.
This includes Interstate 26 between mile markers 82 and 100.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Severe thunderstorms can produce large capsizing waves and frequent
lightning. If on or near Lake Murray move away from the water and
take shelter!
