Description:
At 135 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong
thunderstorms extending from near West Ashley to over Edisto Island,
moving east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
North Charleston, Johns Island, West Ashley, James Island,
Hollywood, Folly Beach, Ravenel, Seabrook Island, Kiawah Island and
Meggett.

Beaches are especially dangerous during thunderstorms because
lightning will usually strike the tallest object in the vicinity.
Move off beaches and get in a sturdy structure or automobile
immediately. Many people have been killed by lightning on beaches in
the southeastern United States.
