Description: 
At 125 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from over Maybank Bridge to over Mount Pleasant Regional Airport, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Daniel Island, Fort Sumter, Downtown Charleston, James Island, I-26/I-526 Interchange and West Ashley. This includes the following highways... I-26 between mile markers 212 and 221. I-526 between mile markers 11 and 31.

Beaches are especially dangerous during thunderstorms because lightning will usually strike the tallest object in the vicinity. Move off beaches and get in a sturdy structure or automobile immediately. Many people have been killed by lightning on beaches in the southeastern United States.
