Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Colleton County in southeastern South Carolina...
* WHEN...Until 1000 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 828 PM EDT, Doppler radar thunderstorms with torrential
rainfall extending from Ashton, Lodge and Padgetts to near
Walterboro. As much as 1 to 3 inches of rain have fallen so far
this evening. An additional 1 to 2 inches could fall through 10
PM, resulting in minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage
areas.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Walterboro, Colleton, Smoaks, Lodge, Williams, Ruffin, Padgetts,
Islandton, Ashton and Bells Crossroads.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
