Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina...
* WHEN...Until 815 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 518 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has
fallen.
- Thunderstorms are developing around the City and will impact
Downtown Charleston over the next 60 to 90 minutes. Intense
rainfall will product hourly rainfall rates in excess of 1 inch
per hour. Minor flooding of roadways can be expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mount Pleasant, Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, Charles Towne
Landing, Medical University Of South Carolina, Marion Square,
Columbus Street Terminal and The Citadel.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
