Description:
At 1141 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from
over Wellsburg to 9 miles west of Powhatan Point, or along a line
from over Wellsburg to 10 miles northeast of Woodsfield, moving east
at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Wheeling, Steubenville, Moundsville, Martins Ferry, Bellaire,
Warwood, Wellsburg, Bethlehem, West Liberty, Triadelphia, Avella,
Clearview, Valley Grove, Wintersville, Shadyside, Mingo Junction,
Follansbee and Hooverson Heights.
Instruction:
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from
windows. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
