A Typhoon Warning continues for Guam and Rota. A Tropical Storm Warning and a Typhoon Watch continues for Tinian and Saipan. At 7 PM ChST...the center of Typhoon Champi (29W) was located near latitude 12.6N...longitude 146.7E. This was about 140 miles east-southeast of Guam. Storm motion was west, 280 degrees, at 15 mph. Storm intensity was 130 mph. This general forecast track will take Champi just south of Guam as a Category 4 typhoon as it intensifies further the next few days. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Typhoon Champi (29W) has been undergoing rapid intensification today. As a result it is now a dangerous category 4 typhoon. It is expected to pass a little south of Guam as a super typhoon within the next 12 hours.
