Description: 
At 1031 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles east of Green Plain, or 9 miles northwest of Boykins, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph, pea size hail, and frequent lightning. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down small trees and blow around unsecured objects. Wind impacting handling of high profile vehicles. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Frequent cloud to ground lightning strikes. This strong thunderstorm will be near... Newsoms around 1045 PM EDT. Courtland around 1050 PM EDT. Franklin around 1100 PM EDT. Suffolk around 1105 PM EDT. Other locations impacted by this storm include Adams Grove, Handsom, Topsy, Cleopus, Dort, Worrell, Riddicksville, Sunbeam, Lees Mill, and Riverdale.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for northeastern North Carolina...and southeastern Virginia.
