Northeastern Pamlico County in eastern North Carolina... * Until 1215 AM EDT. * At 1145 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Buffalo City to Swindell Fork to South Creek, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Stumpy Point, Sladesville, Killkenny, Ransomville, Manns Harbor, Swindell Fork, Scranton, Gull Rock, Gum Neck, Kilkenny, Fairfield, New Holland, Pamlico Beach, Lowland, Nebraska, Bonnerton, Rose Bay, Winsteadville, South Creek, and Lake Landing.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Please send your reports of hail and/or wind damage, including trees or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office in Newport at 1-800-889-6889. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
