* Until 745 PM EDT.
* At 653 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles west of
Bryson City, or near Smoky Mountains-Fontana Area, moving southeast
at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind
damage to trees and power lines.
* Locations impacted include...
Franklin, Bryson City, Robbinsville, Cherokee, Dillsboro, Town Of
Santeetlah, Smoky Mountains-Newfound Gap, Smoky Mountains-Fontana
Area, Lake Santeetlah, and Fontana Lake.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
