...The National Weather Service in Raleigh NC has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in North Carolina...
Neuse River At Smithfield affecting Johnston County.
* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...Neuse River at Smithfield.
* WHEN...From late tonight to tomorrow evening.
* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Action Stage. The Neuse River begins to
overflow on the left bank.
At 15.0 feet, Minor flooding begins. Flooding begins along the
Neuse Riverwalk. Water nears the base of the holding tank at the
water treatment plant.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:15 PM EDT Friday the stage was 14.9 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 15.0
feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below
flood stage tomorrow morning.
- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
Instruction:
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
