At 346 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Castle Hayne, or 10 miles south of Burgaw, moving northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Surf City, Hampstead, Long Creek, Cape Fear Community College North Campus, Wrightsboro, Ashton, Rocky Point, Topsail, Castle Hayne, Woodside, Edgecomb, Maple Hill, and St. Helena. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 between mile markers 402 and 416. Interstate 140 between mile markers 16 and 20.
