Description:
At 441 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles southwest of Creedmoor to 7 miles west
of Wake Forest to near Raleigh. Movement was northeast at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts 45 to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Raleigh, Creedmoor, Wake Forest, Franklinton, Rolesville,
Youngsville, Falls Lake, Falls Lake State Rec Area, Falls Lake Boat
Ramp, and Purnell.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 440 between Mile Markers 3 and 11.
Interstate 540 between Mile Markers 5 and 21.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
