Description:
At 413 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near RDU International to near Cary to 6 miles
west of Fuquay-Varina. Movement was east at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Raleigh, Cary, Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Clayton, RDU International,
Apex, Holly Springs, Morrisville, and Knightdale.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 283 and 314.
Interstate 440 between Mile Markers 1 and 16.
Interstate 540 between Mile Markers 0 and 24.
US 1 between Mile Markers 88 and 101.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
