FFWALY The National Weather Service in Albany has extended the * Flash Flood Warning for... Central Columbia County in east central New York... Northeastern Greene County in east central New York... Southwestern Rensselaer County in east central New York... * Until 530 PM EDT. * At 309 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain continuing across the warned area. Between 5 and 10 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Several roads remain flooded and impassable. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Troy, East Greenbush, Rensselaer, Hudson, Chatham, Nassau, Claverack, New Baltimore, Coxsackie, Valatie, Athens, Castleton-On-Hudson, Philmont, Kinderhook, Lorenz Park, Claverack-Red Mills, West Sand Lake, Averill Park, Wynantskill and Wyantskill.
Instruction: 
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
