Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Western Suffolk county in southeast New York.
* WHEN...Until 400 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1250 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.
Between 3/4 and 1 1/2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1/2 to 3/4 inches are
expected.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Islip, Brentwood, Commack, Huntington Station, Deer Park,
Lindenhurst, Hauppauge, Babylon, Dix Hills, Smithtown, Bay
Shore, Melville, Amityville, Central Islip, West Islip,
Copiague, North Bay Shore, East Islip, Greenlawn and
Wyandanch.
