Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Otero County in south central New Mexico...
* WHEN...Until 100 AM MDT.
* IMPACTS...While rains have diminished, flooding of rivers, creeks,
streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent

will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work
through local drainage systems in urban areas.

to move across Otero County. Flooding is likely in poor drainage
areas across the county. Minor flooding is also likely in all

Tularosa Basin area as rainfall rates have subsided. Flash Flood
Warnings will be issued for more localized areas of serious flash
flooding as needed.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Alamogordo, Tularosa, Mescalero, Cloudcroft, Orogrande, White
Sands National Park, Mayhill, Pinon and Burro Flats.

Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is
harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
