The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
East Central Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico...
West Central Mora County in northeastern New Mexico...
Northwestern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
* Until 400 PM MDT.
* At 1257 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1
hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Pecos, Tererro, Cowles, Glorieta, South San Ysidro and San Jose.
This includes the following highways...
State Road 63 between Mile Markers 1 and 25. Interstate 25 between
Mile Markers 303 and 307...and near Mile Marker 311...and between
Mile Markers 319 and 322.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
