Description: 
At 452 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Hermits Peak Calf Canyon burn scar. Between 0.5 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sapello, Manuelitas and Rociada. This includes State Road 518 between Mile Markers 9 and 14. Dangerous runoff will impact the Rito San Jose, Manuelitas Creek, and the Sapello River. As much as 1.50 inches of rain also fell around midday on the headwaters of Manuelitas Creek, and around 1.15 inches around midday on the Sapello River.
Instruction: 
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Runoff from rainfall will cause elevated water levels within vulnerable drainages in and downstream of the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon burn scar.
