* Until 300 PM EDT.
* At 215 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Washington,
or 14 miles east of Easton, moving north at 35 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
possible.
* Locations impacted include...
Newton, Hopatcong, Hackettstown, Wharton, Washington, Blairstown,
Mount Arlington, High Bridge, Stanhope, Netcong, Clinton,
Belvidere, Harmony, Oxford, Alpha, Hope, Glen Gardner, Chester,
Hampton, and Lebanon.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 4 and 25.
Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 5 and 32.
Instruction:
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough
to be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
