Description: 
At 1041 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Lake Maloney State Recreation Area, or 8 miles southwest of North Platte, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... North Platte, North Platte Airport, Lake Maloney State Recreation Area, and Birdwood. This includes the following highways... Highway 97 between mile markers 1 and 3. Interstate 80 in Nebraska between mile markers 170 and 185. Highway 83 between mile markers 75 and 87.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
