Description:
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...Eastern Gosper County in south central Nebraska...
Western Phelps County in south central Nebraska...
* WHEN...Until 830 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Rises in small streams.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 513 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream
flooding. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Flag Creek, North Dry Creek, Turkey Creek, Spring Creek, Deep
Creek, Plum Creek, Elm Creek, Sacramento Creek, Swartz Creek and
School Creek. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bertrand, Loomis, Atlanta and Smithfield.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
