Description:
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...Central Dawson County in south central Nebraska...
* WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Rises in small streams.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 509 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3
inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Elm Creek, Buffalo Creek, Crooked Creek, Spring Creek, Wood
River, French Creek, and Bell Creek. Additional rainfall amounts
of up to one half inch are expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lexington, Gothenburg and Overton.
Instruction:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
