Description:
* WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning through Sunday evening,
dangerously hot conditions with afternoon and early evening heat
index values reaching least 105 to 115 degrees. For the Heat
Advisory on Monday, afternoon and early evening heat index as high
as 100 to 110 degrees.
* WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and central, east central,
and south central Nebraska.
* WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 9 PM CDT Sunday. For the
Heat Advisory, from 9 PM Sunday to 10 PM CDT Monday.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures Saturday and Sunday
nights will provide only limited relief from the heat, dropping
only into the mid to upper 70s in most of the area.
Instruction:
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
