Description:
At 700 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from
near Lansing to 8 miles west of Linwood, or along a line from near
Lansing to 11 miles southwest of Tonganoxie, moving east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated. This storm has a history of 60 to 70 MPH
winds.
IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Overland Park, Olathe, Shawnee, Lenexa, Leawood, Prairie Village,
Merriam, Mission, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Parkville, Tonganoxie,
Basehor, Edwardsville, Fairway, Mission Hills, Riverside, Westwood
and Lake Quivira.
Instruction:
Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing
widespread damaging winds and large hail.
