Description:
At 728 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Manchester Airport to near Baileys Ford Park to
near Ryan to near Buffalo Creek Park, moving east at 60 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Winthrop, Walker, Quasqueton, Lamont, Aurora, Stanley, Troy Mills,
Monti, Winthrop Golf Course, Lafayette, and Jakway Park.
Instruction:
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
