Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S affecting Scott and Clinton
Counties.
* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
This approaches the flood of record.
* WHERE...Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S.
* WHEN...Until Sunday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 12.5 feet, Water affects old U.S. Highway 61 near the
river.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 8:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 12.5 feet and steady.
- Forecast...The river will hold around 12.5 feet through
Friday before falling. The river is expected to fall below
flood stage late Saturday evening and continue falling to 8.3
feet Thursday, June 25.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
Instruction:
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
