Description:
At 232 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Punta Gorda, moving southeast at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Charlotte County Airport, Cleveland,
Tropical Gulf Acres, Solana, Charlotte Park, Harbour Heights,
Charlotte Harbor and Pirate Harbor.
Instruction:
Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
