Description:
At 526 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Texas Creek to 14 miles southeast of
Cotopaxi. Movement was northeast at 10 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph, hail up to penny size hail, and
torrential rainfall.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible. Heavy rainfall could cause ponding of water on
paved road surfaces, washouts on dirt roads, and quick
runoff causing high flows in area creeks, streams and
normally dry washouts.
Locations impacted include...
Royal Gorge and Canon City.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
