Description:
At 835 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms near
Donner Summit and Stampede Reservoir. These thunderstorms are nearly
stationary.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Prosser Creek Reservoir, Stampede Reservoir, Independence Lake,
Truckee, Ca 89 At Nevada-Sierra Co Line, Upper Little Truckee
Campground, Granite Flat Campground, Lakeside Campground, Ca 89 At
Placer-Nevada Co Line, Boca Rest Campground, Logger Campground,
Hobart Mills, Boca Campground, Truckee-Tahoe Airport, and Donner
Memorial Campground.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
