Central Washington County in southwestern Utah...
* Until 915 PM MDT.
* At 604 PM MDT, Emergency management reported heavy rain over the
Forsyth Burn Scar and flooding in Pine Valley. Additionally, river
gauges remain high along the Santa Clara River above Baker
Reservoir. Between 1.50 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Flash
flooding is ongoing. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will
result in debris flow. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud,
vegetation and other loose materials.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
flash flooding in and around the Forsyth Burn Scar.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the
Forsyth Burn Scar.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Pine Valley.
This includes Utah Route 18 between mile markers 26 and 27.
Instruction:
This is a life threatening situation. Heavy rainfall will cause
extensive and severe flash flooding of creeks...streams...and ditches
in the Forsyth Burn Scar. Severe debris flows can also be anticipated
across roads. Roads and driveways may be washed away in places. If
you encounter flood waters...climb to safety.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
