The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Southern Louisa County in southeastern Iowa...
* Until 815 PM CDT.
* At 722 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Marsh, or 10
miles southwest of Wapello, moving east at 40 mph.
THIS IS A DESTRUCTIVE STORM FOR AMBER...WAPELLO AND TOOLESBORO.
HAZARD...Baseball size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be severely injured.
Expect shattered windows, extensive damage to roofs,
siding, and vehicles.
* Locations impacted include...
Wapello, Morning Sun, New Boston, Oakville, Toolesboro, Amber,
Elrick Junction, Cairo, Virginia Grove Recreation Area, Snively
Access Campground, and Marsh.
Instruction:
This is a dangerous storm. Prepare immediately for large destructive
hail capable of producing significant damage. People outside should
move to shelter inside a strong building, and stay away from windows.
Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT for northwestern
Illinois...and southeastern Iowa.
