Central Mesa County in west central Colorado... * Until 500 PM MDT. * At 151 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.8 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... East Creek along Highway 141 to the Gunnison River near Whitewater, CO.
Instruction: 
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Low water crossings in mountainous terrain can become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Stay alert for rocks and debris on roads, and avoid driving on flooded roads.
