Description:
At 559 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Porter Heights to Aldine to Hilshire
Village. Movement was east at 10 mph. Some of these cells have a
history of producing pea to penny size hail and very heavy rain.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Northwestern Pasadena, South Houston, Bellaire, Humble, West
University Place, Galena Park, Jacinto City, Hunters Creek Village,
Bunker Hill Village, Piney Point Village, Cloverleaf, Downtown
Houston, Greenway / Upper Kirby Area, Kingwood, Second Ward, Greater
Greenspoint, Greater Heights, Neartown / Montrose, Memorial Park, and
Fourth Ward.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
