Special Weather Statement
Urgency:
Expected
Effective:
March 28, 2026 - 11:39pm
Expires:
March 29, 2026 - 5:00pm
Description:
Although wind speeds will be much lower today, the combination of
dry fuels from the ongoing drought and low to moderate relative
humidity levels will continue to produce an increased fire danger
across northeast SC and southeast NC as per fire officials.
Instruction:
Residents and visitors are urged to properly dispose of cigarette
butts, matches, and any other flammable items in appropriate
containers. Additionally, exercise caution if operating any
equipment that could create sparks and keep vehicles off of dry
grass. Most dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could
easily ignite and spread fire quickly.
Please be reminded that statewide burn bans have been issued by
the SC Forestry Commission and the NC Forest Service until further
notice which means most open burning is illegal.
