At 751 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles north of Shelby, or near Lawndale, moving northeast at 50 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Newton, Lincolnton, Shelby, Cherryville, Maiden, Belwood, Lawndale, Fallston, Polkville, and Waco.
Instruction: 
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Conditions are favorable for development of a very brief, weak tornado. Be prepared to take immediate action if a tornado is sighted or a Tornado Warning is issued.
