At 314 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Cox Crossroads, or 8 miles south of River Road, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Washington, River Road, Belhaven, Ransomville, Blounts Creek, Pamlico Beach, Vanceboro, Cayton, Wilmar, Edward, Cox Crossroads, Bonnerton, Bayview, Winsteadville, Core Point, South Creek, Sidney Crossroads, Yeatesville, Ernul, and Aurora Ferry Terminal.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
