Description:
At 103 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Gonzales, moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Gonzales, Ponchatoula, Sorrento, French Settlement, Port Vincent,
Springfield, Prairieville, Whitehall, and Killian.
This includes the following Interstates...
Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 171 and 190.
Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 7 and 26.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 AM CDT for southeastern
Louisiana.
