Description:
At 854 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Fayetteville to near Jemison. Movement was
east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Calera, Jemison, Weogufka, Stewartville, Strickland Crossroads, Lay
Lake Dam, Unity, Marble Valley, Moriah, Lay Lake, Mitchell Lake,
Shelby, Minooka Park, Shelby Shores, Waxahatchee Creek, Highway 145
and CR 46, Paint Creek, Kelley Branch, and Spring Creek.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for
central and east central Alabama.
