Description:
At 411 PM EST, a strong thunderstorm was over Lake Lanier Islands, or
7 miles east of Cumming, moving northeast at 15 mph.
HAZARD...Up to 40 mph wind, pea sized hail and frequent cloud to
ground lightning.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Gainesville, Buford, Flowery Branch, Oakwood, Rest Haven, Aqualand
Park, Chestatee, Oscarville, Buford Dam-Lake Lanier Parks, Lake
Lanier Islands, and War Hill Park.
Instruction:
People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
