Description:
At 645 PM EST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 6 miles northeast of Elkins to 9 miles
northeast of Richwood. Movement was east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Elkins, Marlinton, Cass Scenic Railroad, Green Bank, Mill Creek,
Snowshoe, Dailey, Mingo, Beverly, Durbin, Womelsdorf (Coalton),
Huttonsville, Montrose, Harman, Pheasant Run, Arbovale, Cheat Bridge,
Dryfork, Glady, and Waneta.
This includes Route 33 between mile markers 31 and 35.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
