* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina...
* WHEN...Until 645 PM EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 440 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated an area of showers and
thunderstorms with torrential rainfall approaching Downtown
Charleston. These storms could drop a quick 1 to 1.5 inches of
rain through 530 PM, resulting in minor flooding of low- lying
and poor drainage areas.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Downtown Charleston, Medical University Of South Carolina, Marion
Square, Columbus Street Terminal and The Citadel.
Instruction:
Heavy rain in Downtown Charleston will result in nuisance flooding of
low-lying areas. Areas most prone to flooding include the Market,
Crosstown, East Bay Street and Morrison Drive. Slow down when
traveling and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle ahead.
Do not drive into water of unknown depth.
