Description:
At 815 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Roanoke Rapids to Rocky Mount to Walnut Creek, moving
northeast at 45 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Rocky Mount, Goldsboro, Roanoke Rapids, Tarboro, Nashville, Halifax,
Wilson, Scotland Neck, Elm City, and Fremont.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 173 and 132.
NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 43 and 56.
Instruction:
Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage
mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure
until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris
generated by damaging winds can be deadly.
