Description:
At 529 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Smithland, or
21 miles northeast of Marshall, moving southeast at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Two inch hail and 70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Shreveport, Vivian, Blanchard, Benton, Plain Dealing, Oil City,
Mooringsport, Hosston, Belcher, Gilliam, Smithland, Karnack, Gray,
Uncertain, Caddo Lake, Cavett, Dixie and Alden Bridge.
Instruction:
Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing
widespread damaging winds and dangerous hail.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for portions of
northwest Louisiana and northeast Texas.
